Hi there! Welcome to the Parties On Purpose blog where we will share some "behind the scenes" details about our events as well as new trends and what we are into. We're thrilled that you are here!
When it comes to kids’ birthday parties, we get a lot of requests for themes based on popular movies. We were so excited when our client asked for a King Kong vs. Godzilla party! We found the perfect venue, Warehouse 215, that tied in with our color scheme and aesthetic for the party and got to work.
Since the characters in the movie are massive, it was important that we set up a massive backdrop to act as the focal point of the party. The Godzilla and King Kong prints were created custom and tied in perfectly with our hedge wall and caution tape. We incorporated both characters on the cake, with one layer representing Godzilla and the other King Kong. The custom cityscape cake topper completed the look!
Marquee lights were used to light up the space and provide another photo op area. We spelled out the birthday boy’s nickname, Eazy, and added these giant cardboard cutouts.
We often use flowers in our table centerpieces for a fresh, elevated look. However to stick to the more industrial theme of this party, we had laser cut 3D centerpieces created with Godzilla and King Kong. This was a great way to personalize the tables with Eazy’s name and the movie characters. We just love how they turned out!
Guests were entertained with not one but two bounce houses, a screening of the movie, Lego hat making station, balloon twisting, made-to-order cotton candy, and a battle play area. We built the 8 foot tall cityscape with cardboard cutout props – it took a few hours to put it all together but it was so worth it!
When guests arrived, they had the choice between a Team Kong or Team Godzilla pass. We had 2 grand entrances to the party that represented each team.
What team are you on? Godzilla or King Kong?
